Tampa Bay Lightning
The off ice distractions will be too much for the Lightning to overcome this season. They are off to a decent start, but the ownership fiasco will overshadow the locker room and the team will be out of contention by Christmas.
The heart of the ownership dispute between Koules and Barrie is based on 3 issues:
- Lecavalier trade - Koules wanted, Barrie didn't
- GM Lawton bringing his wife and former intern into senior business positions within the team - Koules allowed, Barrie did not support
- Koules not stepping down as CEO after Barrie found him in David Letterman-like relationships with junior staffers in the Front office.
Lets hope Bettman puts an end to this train wreck so that this season is not lost for the sake of the players and fans in Tampa.
